Boat Mechanic and maintenance- Clearwater Community Sailing Center is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated qualified individual to oversee the repair and maintenance of a small fleet of both power and sail boats. Candidates must have experience and or certifications in repair and maintenance of Yamaha and Mercury outboard engines. We currently have a fleet of hobicats, lasers, sunfish, opti’s, prams, and JY15’s that require the daily preventative maintenance and repair to maintain the fleet in an operable and safe condition. Candidates would need considerable knowledge of methods, materials, practices, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of fiberglass hulls, outboard engines, sails, and rigging, as well as small engines used to maintain the grounds and landscaping of the facility. Knowledge of occupational hazards associated with the work and pertinent safety measures and precautions. Ability to prioritize work and maintain workshop, tools, equipment and supplies for repairs. This position would report directly to the Director of a not-for-profit community sailing center.
Terms of Employment:
Pay: $9-$12 per hour, depending on proven experience and certifications
Hours: 20-40 hours per week (includes weekends), year round.
Working Conditions: indoor/outdoor on beautiful Clearwater Harbor across from county park and nearby tourist district, extreme heat & humidity during summer months, ability to move boats up to 50 pounds, frequent contact with the public.

Sailing Center Program Director- The Clearwater Community Sailing Center is a non-profit sailing center that is in the process of expanding the current program focus. We currently have a fleet of small craft sailing with prams, opti’s, sunfish, lasers, and JY15’s, a few kayaks and a paddling club. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and qualified individual to develop and grow all program areas of sailing, kayaking, paddling and other water related programs. The ideal candidate will be an experienced sailor and will be able to work as a team leader and supervisor managing the day-to-day operations of a not-for-profit community sailing, paddling and kayaking center located on beautiful Clearwater Harbor less than a half mile to Clearwater Pass leading to the Gulf of Mexico. Operational functions include coordinating and scheduling sailing programs for persons of all ages and all abilities, coordinating and scheduling kayaking and paddling programs and instruction and developing other types of non-motorized watercraft instruction such as windsurfing and kiteboarding; sailing, kayaking, paddling rentals; day-to-day office management and staff supervision and scheduling. Must have the ability to research and initiate new programs for the center. Preferred knowledge in racing opti, laser or JY15 class, with maintenance and repair experience of same. The Program Director reports to the Director of the Sailing Center. Preferred experience includes: staff management and supervision, track record of successful design, implementation and evaluation of educational programs for persons of all ages (youth, adult, seniors, veterans and challenged). Community partnership development, current certifications in First Aid, and CPR, US Boating Safety certifications, US Sailing Instructor Certifications, familiarity of small boats and boat handling skills, familiarity with marine environment. Skilled in daily management and program scheduling and ability to lead and motivate others in a positive manner.

Working environment: indoor/outdoor on a beautiful waterfront on Clearwater Harbor, ability to move boats up to 50 pounds, includes motorboat operation, frequent contact with the public
