Seniors

Some seniors may be taking to the water for the first time – some may be coming back to sailing after re-discovery. We have planned programs for all seniors who want to get on the water.

Classes for the beginning senior are held on a regular basis. These non-intimidating classes will take you through the basics and out onto the water in a safe, stable boat, watched over by a chase boat. Classes are held exclusively in your own age group and not mixed in with youngsters or those of very different physical ability.

Regularly scheduled classes aimed at refresher courses for those who have sailed before, but maybe many years earlier when in their youth in colder climes. These will take you through a stable training boat and onto Laser, Sunfish or other class sailing as desired.

Seniors with reduced physical ability or an initial fear of the water can use the Access dinghies of the Sailability program at the CCSC. These small stable boats use a smaller rig and a weighted dagger board which makes sure that the boat is the safest means out on the water under all but the worst conditions. Sailing can be organized either through the CCSA staff or through Sailability when more extensive help is required.
